Replacement Brushless Main Drive Gear Set for RC ERA C170 Apache Helicopter
Eliminate Gear Stripping, Stop High-Torque Power Slippage, and Restore Smooth Motor-to-Rotor Drive Transmission
The main gear wheel is the primary mechanical power transfer component that bridges your high-RPM brushless motor to the main rotor shaft. On a 1:48 scale scale military helicopter like the RC ERA C170 Longbow Apache, executing violent inverted loops or extreme collective pitch recoveries in 3D stunt mode forces the motor pinion to grind hard against the gear teeth. If your helicopter experiences a rotor blade strike or sudden crash landing while the motor is active, the intense torque will shear, strip, or flatten the plastic gear teeth. Flying with stripped or chipped teeth causes an unmistakable loud screeching noise, massive drops in head speed, slipping under load, and severe motor overheating. Replacing your worn transmission wheel with this factory-original high-density main gear set ensures instantaneous throttle response, smooth mesh tracking, and optimal aerodynamic power efficiency. Ships worldwide.
Product Highlights
Wear-Resistant Self-Lubricating Polymer Compound: Precision-molded from premium high-density nylon resin that handles sustained high temperatures and dampens gear train noise.
Reinforced Square Indexing Center Hub Base: Molded around an extra-thick square shaft interface slot that prevents the high-torque main shaft from slipping or spinning freely inside the wheel core.
Aerodynamic Weight-Reduction Vent Holes: Features six symmetrically placed cut-out slots around the gear faceplate to minimize rotational inertia while preserving ultimate structural integrity.
Value-Packed 2-Piece Drivetrain Maintenance Pack: Includes 2 complete factory-matching replacement main gears in one set, ensuring you have a backup ready for quick field maintenance.
Compatibility
For the RC ERA C170 1:48 Scale Longbow Apache RC Helicopter only. Full model page (specs & photos):
Removing the Stripped Drive Gear: Unfasten the retaining pin screw at the base of the central steel shaft beneath the chassis; gently pull the main gear downward away from the main frame bearing blocks and slide it off the shaft flat interface.
Indexing the Square Shaft Adaptor Core: Align the square center hole of your fresh cream-white main gear with the matching machined square section on your RC ERA C170 main shaft; slide it upward until it sits flush against the bottom bearing spacer plate.
Securing the Retaining Shaft Screw: Re-insert the factory self-tapping screw back through the lower gear sleeve collar hole and directly into the core shaft alignment index; tighten carefully until snug, ensuring you do not over-torque or strip out the center plastic sleeve.
Setting the Brushless Motor Gear Mesh Backlash: Push the motor pinion against the main gear face to check tracking; ensure there is a microscopic sliver of clearance (about the thickness of a single sheet of notebook paper) between the teeth to guarantee friction-free free-spinning before locking into high-speed 3D acrobatics.
