Install Tips

• Rotor Hub Feathering Shaft Thread Prep: Clean the inner threads of your C184 feathering shaft spindle using a micro brush before reassembly; apply a small drop of medium thread-locker directly onto one replacement screw to prevent the fastener from backing out mid-flight.

• Step-Washer Orientation Check: Slide the brass step-washer onto the screw shank with the raised step edge facing inward toward the rubber dampener ring; installing this spacer backward can crush the internal bearings and lock up the collective control linkage.

• Dual-Driver Torque Balancing: Use two matched precision screwdrivers to hold both sides of the feathering spindle axle simultaneously; tighten the left and right side screws evenly until snug, checking that the blade grips still rotate smoothly by hand without any clicking.

• Optical Flow Calibration Inspection: Once the rotor hub assembly is secured, place the helicopter flat onto your non-slip workbench mat and check that the main shaft is perfectly vertical; smooth blade tracking reduces fuselage vibration, allowing the downward-facing optical flow sensor camera to lock onto the ground smoothly.
