Install Tips

• Accessing the Main Gearbox Casing: Disassemble the mid-frame body screws to carefully split the fuselage and expose the central main shaft; slide out the worn or damaged white gear from the lower transmission housing.

• Shaft Insertion and Pinion Alignment: Slide the new white C184 main gear onto the steel main rotor shaft; ensure the raised center collar hub seats properly against the lower bearing lock.

• Calibrating Gear Mesh Backlash: When securing the motor mount, adjust the spacing so there is a microscopic sliver of play (backlash) between the nylon gear teeth and the metal motor pinion; setting it too tight will overheat the motor and damage the electronics speed controller.

• Pre-Flight Balance Bench Check: Place your reassembled helicopter onto a flat, non-slip technical pad and rotate the main blades by hand to verify smooth movement; spin up the motor slowly to ensure the airframe runs vibration-free, allowing the downward optical flow sensor camera to track ground data cleanly.
